Some have been bred to bring out their pointing instinct, as I have depicted in this carving. The beautiful grains of the walnut add to this sculpture as they flow from nose to tail. I hand carved this Chocolate Lab from a single piece of walnut live edge slab using a Dremel power tool. It has a wall hanging bracket on the back. After hours of carving and sanding, I applied many coats of Deft Semi-gloss lacquer bringing out the various grains within the wood. I prefer using Walnut as my go-to material for carving as it has stable characteristics and finishes out very nice.
